Old Mountain Academy

Old Mountain Academy offers an education where wonder leads to worship and work for the glory of God.

Rooted in Relationship

Old Mountain Academy is a Charlotte Mason/Classical hybrid school where God is at the center of every lesson. We offer a tech-free, peaceful environment focused on living books, small class sizes, and the wonder of finding God in every area of life.

Our relational approach prepares students for adulthood and a life of service to God and others. Fostering a deep love for learning within a warm community that focuses on honoring the child as a unique person in the elementary years.

As the child transitions to upper level classes the focus shifts from who they are in Christ to what they are called to do with love, integrity and diligence in the world we live.

Challenged to think and communicate in a way that will set them apart for the rest of their lives, the  highschool student embraces the dialectic skills of logic, debate, apologetics, speech, and critical writing.

Our Location

Our campus sits in the heart of Murphy, NC. Sharing space with Murphy First Baptist where the quiet rhythm of the mountains provides the perfect backdrop for a Charlotte Mason and Classical education.

Distinctives of
Old Mountain Academy

Love for God and People

At Old Mountain Academy, we endeavor to see our mission rooted in what Jesus taught as the most important commandments - loving God and loving people. Love challenges us, calls us higher and operates from a place of patience.

Integriy

Throughout scripture and history, we see stories of integrity that set apart leaders from followers. A focus on integrity at Old Mountain Academy leads the student to understand that integrity will cost them, but will always reward them with peace.

Diligence

Old Mountain Academy cultivates a culture of diligence, where steady effort is an act of worship. By prioritizing beautiful work and faithful habits rather than a GPA, we prepare students for an intentional, simple life based on their gifts. Here, learning is joyful work that builds resilience, academic excellence, and a lifelong commitment to serving Jesus.

At Old Mountain Academy, we disciple students in what Jesus spoke about more than any other subject, bringing the Kingdom of God to earth through their daily lives.
